Cut-Off Mark for Nursing in UNIZIK 2026/2027: Requirements and Admission Guide

UNIZIK’s 2026/2027 screening notice gives a general JAMB minimum of 160, but it does not state a separate Nursing Science cut-off. A Nursing-specific departmental or aggregate cut-off for the session could not be verified from the official sources checked. Meeting the university’s general application minimum should therefore not be treated as confirmation that your score will secure Nursing admission.

Information checked: 24 October 2026. This guide covers Nursing Science degree admission at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, with particular attention to the 2026/2027 UTME entry route.

UNIZIK Nursing Cut-Off Mark: What the Different Figures Mean

The figures 160, 200 and 276 refer to different requirements and academic sessions. They are not interchangeable.

FigureWhat the official evidence supportsAcademic session
160General minimum for the university’s screening application2026/2027
200Nursing Sciences screening eligibility in the previous session’s notice2025/2026
276Nursing merit admission aggregate in an older departmental table2019/2020
2026/2027 Nursing departmental scoreNo separate figure verified from the official sources checked2026/2027

The current information comes from UNIZIK’s 2026/2027 screening announcement and its signed registration flyer. The older figures can be traced to the university’s previous screening notice and merit admission document.

This does not establish that UNIZIK reduced a Nursing-specific cut-off from 200 to 160. The two screening notices provide different levels of detail: the newer flyer gives a general minimum, while the previous notice lists programme groups.

For a Nursing applicant, the question to resolve is whether any additional programme-specific condition applies to the current admission exercise.

Why Some Websites Say UNIZIK Nursing Requires 200

The 200 figure has an official basis, but the verified notice is for 2025/2026.

In its 2025/2026 Post-UTME and Direct Entry announcement, UNIZIK placed Nursing Sciences among the programmes requiring a UTME pass mark of 200.

That was a screening eligibility requirement for the stated session. It was not a promise that everyone with 200 would receive an admission offer.

The figure should retain its original session whenever it is quoted. A page carrying “2026/2027” in its title does not, by itself, prove that the university has renewed an older requirement.

Is 276 the UNIZIK Nursing Departmental Cut-Off for 2026?

The official Nursing aggregate of 276 belongs to the 2019/2020 merit admission exercise.

UNIZIK’s 2019/2020 merit cut-off document lists Nursing/Nursing Science at 276. The document identifies the figures as admission aggregates and clearly states the academic session.

There are two reasons to be careful with that number:

  1. It is historical. It does not establish the requirement for 2026/2027.
  2. It is an aggregate. It should not automatically be described as a raw JAMB score.

An old merit table can explain previous admissions. It cannot confirm what score a current applicant needs.

JAMB Cut-Off, Screening Minimum and Departmental Aggregate Explained

These terms describe different stages of admission.

General application minimum

This is the minimum score stated for entering an application or screening process.

Crossing that threshold means you have passed one initial check. Other requirements can still apply, including your subjects, results, entry route and programme choice.

Programme-specific screening requirement

A university may set a separate application threshold for a particular course or group of courses.

Where such a requirement is published, candidates must check the exact programme and session. A general university minimum should not be used to override a higher course requirement.

Departmental admission cut-off

This concerns selection into the programme after the relevant assessment process.

A candidate can meet an application requirement without receiving an offer. Eligibility and selection are separate decisions.

Aggregate score

An aggregate is a combined assessment score calculated using the institution’s approved method.

Before comparing your result with any published aggregate, confirm that both figures use the same formula, scale and academic session. Comparing a JAMB result with an old combined screening score can lead to the wrong conclusion.

Why Nursing Admission at UNIZIK Is Competitive

UNIZIK has publicly described demand for Nursing as much greater than the available capacity.

In a university report published on 20 June 2026, the Vice-Chancellor said that more than 14,700 applicants sought Nursing Science, while the department had a stated carrying capacity of 200 students. The figures appeared in UNIZIK’s report on an Industrial Training Fund delegation’s visit.

That report helps explain why a minimum score cannot guarantee a Nursing place.

However, those figures should not be turned into your personal admission probability. They do not show how many applicants met every requirement, and the report is not a published final selection table.

The practical lesson is to assess your complete application. Your UTME score matters, but so do the requirements attached to your chosen programme.

Can I Study Nursing at UNIZIK With 180, 200, 250 or 280?

Your JAMB score alone cannot confirm whether UNIZIK will admit you for Nursing. The following examples show what you can reasonably conclude from the verified notices.

Your UTME scoreWhat you can conclude
180It exceeds the published general minimum. The current flyer alone does not establish Nursing-specific eligibility.
200It exceeds the general minimum and matches the previous session’s Nursing application threshold. The current Nursing condition still needs confirmation.
250It is above those application benchmarks, but it does not establish that you have met a verified 2026/2027 Nursing selection score.
280 or 300A higher result still needs to be considered alongside the programme requirements and the university’s admission decision.

These are explanations of sample scores, not official score bands or predictions of admission chances.

What if I scored below 160?

A score below 160 falls below the general minimum stated in the verified 2026/2027 screening flyer.

Before paying for an application or requesting a change of institution, check whether any officially announced route applies to your situation.

Is there a “safe score” for Nursing?

A guaranteed Nursing admission score cannot be established from the official evidence reviewed.

If you are preparing for UTME, aim for the strongest result you can achieve. A personal target such as 280 or 300 can guide your preparation, but it should not be presented as UNIZIK’s published requirement or an admission guarantee.

If you already have your result, focus on checking your eligibility, application record and admission status.

JAMB Subject Combination for Nursing in UNIZIK

The four UTME subjects for Nursing Science are Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

JAMB’s Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences brochure lists the three science subjects in its Nursing entry and includes UNIZIK among the institutions offering the programme. Use of English is compulsory; JAMB’s official eligibility checker includes it automatically.

UTME subjectRequired for the Nursing combination
Use of EnglishYes
BiologyYes
ChemistryYes
PhysicsYes

Mathematics is an O’Level requirement, but it does not replace any of the three sciences in this UTME combination.

For example, a candidate should not assume that English, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics is acceptable simply because Mathematics is needed in the O’Level result.

Check the subjects you actually registered for and sat in UTME. A strong total does not correct an unsuitable subject combination.

O’Level Requirements for Nursing Science

You need credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

These five subjects appear in JAMB’s Nursing entry and the National Universities Commission’s Nursing degree framework.

O’Level subjectRequired result
English LanguageCredit pass
MathematicsCredit pass
BiologyCredit pass
ChemistryCredit pass
PhysicsCredit pass

JAMB’s eligibility checker classifies A1–C6 as credits and D7–E8 as passes. A pass grade should therefore not be counted as a credit when you check the five required subjects.

Does UNIZIK accept two sittings for Nursing?

The national Nursing framework allows the required five credits at no more than two sittings, but applicants combining results should confirm UNIZIK’s current institutional condition.

There is a detail that needs attention: UNIZIK’s general undergraduate page describes five relevant credits at one sitting or six at two sittings. That differs from the wording of the national Nursing minimum.

If you are combining results, ask the admissions office to confirm how the rule applies to Nursing Science for your entry route. State the examinations, sittings and grades you intend to use.

This is more useful than relying on a general “two sittings accepted” statement that does not address your exact application.

What if one required credit is missing?

Check the missing subject before making an admission decision.

For instance, credits in several other subjects do not replace the required Physics credit in the Nursing entry. Identify the specific deficiency and confirm what valid option is available to correct it.

Do not assume that a higher JAMB score removes an O’Level requirement.

How to Check Your Nursing Eligibility Through JAMB

Use JAMB’s official eligibility checker to compare your actual qualifications with your selected programme.

The checker asks for your entry mode, institution, programme, O’Level results and UTME subjects. English is already included by default.

To check:

  1. Open the JAMB eligibility checker.
  2. Choose your entry mode: UTME or Direct Entry.
  3. Select the relevant institution type and category.
  4. Choose Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
  5. Select Nursing/Nursing Science.
  6. Enter your O’Level credits and any other requested qualifications accurately.
  7. Select your UTME science subjects and run the eligibility check.

Use your real results. Selecting grades or subjects you do not have will not give you a useful assessment.

An eligibility result helps you check requirements. It should not be treated as an admission offer.

How Is the UNIZIK Nursing Aggregate Calculated for 2026/2027?

A complete, course-applicable 2026/2027 aggregate formula could not be verified from the official sources checked.

An old formula should not be relabelled as current simply because it appears in a recently updated article. UNIZIK’s website has a formula page dated September 2024, but the page did not provide a usable calculation when checked.

Before using any online aggregate calculator, confirm:

  • The academic session covered by the formula.
  • The results used in the calculation.
  • The weighting assigned to each result.
  • Any grade conversion or sitting adjustment.
  • The scale on which the final score is reported.

Without those details, a calculated result may look precise while still being unsuitable for your admission exercise.

For the same reason, do not assume a particular Post-UTME examination format from the phrase “screening exercise.” Follow the instructions issued for your session and application.

What Nursing Applicants Should Do Next

Your next step depends on whether you have registered, are awaiting a decision or have received an offer.

If you have not registered

Check the current application phase before making a payment.

The original registration window in the May 2026 notice has passed. A late application would require a valid later announcement, extension or additional exercise.

Use the official UNIZIK application portal and the university’s published notices to establish what is currently available.

The verified screening notice also requires the appropriate first-choice arrangement and online registration. Do not assume that selecting UNIZIK in JAMB alone completes the university’s screening process.

If you registered and are awaiting admission

Review your application record carefully.

Confirm that the programme, JAMB registration number, subjects and results shown are yours. Also verify that the required O’Level results have been uploaded to JAMB CAPS, as directed in the screening notice.

Check your personal admission record through JAMB e-Facility and monitor your UNIZIK application account and official communications.

A result screenshot or someone else’s admission experience cannot establish your own status.

If you receive an offer

Read the exact programme named in the offer and follow the official acceptance and registration instructions.

Do not assume that an offer for another course is an offer for Nursing. Check the course title before accepting, paying or making plans.

If your eligibility is unclear

The official screening flyer provides admission@unizik.edu.ng for admissions enquiries.

A useful question is:

Please confirm whether Nursing Science has a separate UTME screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session, and which current requirements apply to my entry route.

If your concern involves combined results or Direct Entry, explain that specifically. A clear question is more likely to resolve the issue than asking only, “Can I gain admission?”

Does the Same Cut-Off Apply to Direct Entry Nursing Applicants?

UTME score comparisons should not be used as the complete eligibility test for Direct Entry.

Direct Entry involves recognised qualifications and programme-specific requirements. JAMB’s Nursing brochure lists A’Level and registered-nurse routes among its general Direct Entry provisions, with separate institutional considerations.

Before relying on a qualification, confirm that UNIZIK accepts it for Nursing and that you satisfy the accompanying O’Level requirements.

Check:

  • Whether your qualification is accepted for the programme.
  • Whether you meet any required subject or grade conditions.
  • Which documents and transcripts must be submitted.
  • The current submission procedure and deadline.

Do not assume that every ND, HND, nursing certificate or related science qualification automatically qualifies its holder for UNIZIK Nursing Direct Entry.

What Can You Do If You Are Not Offered Nursing?

Review the official position before deciding whether to wait, change your application or prepare for another admission cycle.

Check your application for an identifiable problem

Start with the requirements you can verify: subject combination, required credits, result uploads, programme choice and completed registration.

If you identify an error, ask the relevant official office whether a correction is still permitted.

Consider an officially announced alternative

A change of course or supplementary application is useful only when the university has announced a valid opportunity and the programme is available.

Do not assume that Nursing will appear in a supplementary exercise or that its requirements will automatically be lower.

Compare other Nursing programmes carefully

If you are considering another institution, check its current Nursing requirements before changing your application.

Also confirm the exact award and admission route. A university Nursing degree and another institution’s nursing programme may have different entry procedures.

Choose another course only if you understand the decision

Before accepting an alternative, read its curriculum and consider whether it matches your interests.

An offer for another health or science course should not be treated as a guaranteed transfer route into Nursing.

Prepare for a later cycle if necessary

If you decide to try again, identify the main weakness in your previous application and work on it directly.

For UTME preparation, use the CampusNinja Study Desk to revise Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. It provides selected revision material and original practice questions with explanations.

Keep a record of the topics you miss, review the explanation, and attempt related questions again. This gives your preparation a clear purpose beyond repeatedly checking cut-off predictions.

How Many Years Is Nursing at UNIZIK?

UNIZIK lists its full-time Bachelor of Nursing Science programme as a five-year course.

The university’s Nursing Science programme page identifies the award as B.N.Sc. and the duration as five years.

Applicants using a different entry route should confirm the applicable duration and entry level. Programme duration should also be kept separate from any subsequent professional requirements.

How to Recognise a Reliable Nursing Cut-Off Update

A useful cut-off announcement should identify the programme, session and type of score.

Before acting on a new figure, check:

  1. Who issued it? Look for a university or JAMB notice that supports the claim.
  2. Which session does it cover? Check the document itself, not only the webpage title.
  3. Which programme is named? A university-wide figure may not settle a Nursing-specific requirement.
  4. What type of score is it? Distinguish UTME eligibility from a combined screening aggregate.
  5. Has it been superseded? Read any later official correction or replacement notice.

For your own application, keep a copy of the notice you relied on and compare it with the information in your official account. If the Nursing-specific condition remains unclear, request clarification before making a decision that depends on it.
